Sirius Fun! - Jan 26th, Alaska Aurora Cam
We had a blast on our tour last night at Sirius Sled Dogs and if you look closely you can see the making of this image https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151819790616923&set=a.397828611922.181570.239620156922&type=1&theater at the bottom of the frame. :-)

Movin' - Jan 20th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Hey folks! We apologize for the recent lack up updates to this gallery this month. As it were we've been transitioning into a new home and between the work while still operating tours and the lack of connectivity we haven't been able to keep up on the daily images as much as we'd like. We should be all settled in by the first of Feb and will begin regular updates once again then.

Finally Clear and Cold - Jan 10th, Alaska Aurora Cam
The folks down south must have finally cried uncle loud enough for Mother Nature to hear because they are returning to normal and so are we which means sub-zero temps but also clear skies and Aurora. This was early this morning as the clouds made way and began to reveal the stars and Aurora.

CME Dud - Jan 9th, Alaska Aurora Cam
The much anticipated " Solar Storm of the Year" didn't hit as anticipated and as it would turn out, most of the solar particles completely missed us. We are hoping for a bit of residual effect here in Fairbanks over the weekend however.

Storms - Jan 8th, Alaska Aurora Cam
The solar storm expected to hit was late but that didn't matter much to Alaska as most of the state was covered in clouds and would have missed the show. The lower 48 stole our clear, cold skies and recorded new lows. ;-)

Late Morning - Jan 7th, Alaska Aurora Cam
It was a late start but a nice way to start the early morning and the lights danced all the way into the morning commute for many Fairbanks folks.

Faintly Present - Jan 6th. Alaska Aurora Cam
We did get a little taste of open skies in the early morning hours last night and while Lady Aurora was there, she was pretty faint.

Mostly Cloudy - Jan 5th, Alaska Aurora Cam
We were still covered over and giving Lady Aurora a bit of a break after her awesome holiday performances.

Cloud Covered - Jan 4th, Alaska Aurora Cam
We had moderate Aurora Activity but it was mostly hard to see as the "Lower 48" once again stole our cold weather and along with it our clear skies. ;-)

Swirls in the Clouds - Jan 3rd, Alaska Aurora Cam
The clouds dominated most of the night and after 14 straight days of doing tours we were OK with that and took a night off to lick our wounds. The skies did open up for a few moments here and there however to reveal small glimpses of the big show going on above the clouds and here is a taste of what we saw.

Wind Stream - Jan 2nd, Alaska Aurora Cam
As expected, Earth entered a Coronal Hole Wind Stream which brought a bit of the earlier CMEs with it. For a few nights we go and are getting some rather nice Aurora when the weather is playing nice.

New Year! - Jan 1st, 2014, Alaska Aurora Cam
The folks up at Sirius Sled Dogs know how to bring in a new year and this year was no exception. A bonfire beneath Northern Lights is all the fireworks needed at their wonderful cabin.

Sky Lights - Dec 31st, Alaska Aurora Cam
The final day of the year rolled in nicely with a good display. We made the most of it on our tour last night and are hoping the year end just as brilliantly! Eyes to the sky as the next week or so is shaping up rather nicely for Aurora activity.

Dandy Display - Dec 30th, Alaska Aurora Cam
We missed grabbing screen shots at the peak of the display as we were out on tour having an awesome time with some budding Aurora Photographers. Check out some of those images on our Facebook page. That aside, for a low activity night it turned out pretty spectacular. That just goes to show, you can never discount Lady Aurora when she's feeling frisky. :-)

Late Clearing - Dec 29th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Last night we had some pretty decent Aurora activity but the clouds owned the sky most of the night. Finally around 3AM after the lights had died down, the skies cleared. Hoping for a good show tonight and with the incoming Coronal Hole Stream and M-Class flare, we're expecting quite a show on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. It won't just be fireworks lighting up the Fairbanks skies.

Small Show - Dec 28th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Lady Aurora did give us a small show last night. We were happy to dance with her what little we could and it was enough to make some nice Aurora Portraits of our guests. :-)

Faintly There - Dec 27th. Alaska Aurora Cam
It was a bit slower and colder last night. We did get a faint bit of green in the sky but it was really not much. We still had a great night out on tours with Aurora Chasers and made some great photos of the Milky Way.

Ice up! - Dec 26th, Alaska Aurora Cam
It's been a cold one around here lately. How cold? Well I believe yesterday's high was -34ºF to give you an idea. But while the cold plays havoc on the Aurora Cam window and ices it up, we don't much mind because the show was amazing and the clear skies creating the cold were wonderful!

Christmas Miracle - Dec 25th, Alaska Aurora Cam
It had a been far to long since we'd danced with Lady Aurora but alas, she came back in spectacular fashion to light the skies for Santa as he made his Christmas morning deliveries. Welcome back Lady Aurora!

Sunrise Aurora - Dec 23rd, Alaska Aurora Cam
Last night dumped snow. So much that the local ski hill declared a powder emergency and suggested that all skiers skip work to come play in the 6 new inches of powder. But that also meant no Aurora. At least not until just before sunrise when the clouds gave way for a few moments to reveal the faintest bit of green on the horizon.

No Dice - Dec 22nd, Alaska Aurora Cam
We got some fairly clear skies but the lights never did come out to play. Things are supposed to pick up around Christmas Day and we're hopeful that they will indeed.

Twilight Teaser - Dec 21st, Alaska Aurora Cam
The evening started out looking quite promising and we did in fact get a glimpse of Lady Aurora around 11PM but then the clouds took over and that was that. Hoping things clear up a bit over the Holidays.

Competing Light - Dec 20th, Alaska Aurora Cam
The lights did come out to play but the clouds and full moon gave their faint show a good challenge. Still after days of absence, it was good to see them again.

Triple Troubles - Dec 19th, Alaska Aurora Cam
For the 3rd day in a row we've been cloud covered but the Lady Aurora has been fairly quite anyway. The sun appears to have reawoken with a nice M-Class flare today so hopefully the skies play nice and we get a nice show in a few nights.

Continuos Clouds - Dec 18th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Another cloudy night last night but the full moon sure made the winter landscape look beautiful.

Foggy Moonshine - Dec 17th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Another cloud filled moonlit night. But it did bring us a tiny reprieve from the bitter -38ºF cold.

Moonlight Dance - Dec 16th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Got a nice show despite the moonlight trying to take over the sky.

Cloudy Moonlight - Dec 15th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Things were a bit clouded over but a nearly full moon still ensured a bright sky.

Colorful Streaks - Dec 13th, Alaska Aurora Cam
The meteor shower has been fun to watch on the Cam and Friday morning as the faint Aurora showed up was no exception.
Sorry for the lack of updates here. We are in another part of the state for the weekend and only have limited access. We'll update everything once we return.aurorawebcamnorthern lightscameracamborealisfairbanksalaskasirius sled dogsmurphy dometourssightseeingnatureadventureronn murray photography
Beautiful Breakup - Dec 11th, Alaska Aurora Cam
It was a beautiful breakup (not the kind you do with a significant other but an Aurora Breakup) after a long night of steady Aurora banding.

Covered in Clouds - Dec 10th, Alaska Aurora Cam
We had small openings in the clouds all night that allowed us a brief look at what Lady Aurora was doing but the skies never opened up until the dance was nearly finished.

Dancing Behind the Clouds - Dec 9th, Alaska Aurora Cam
Once again the bizarre weather stole the show as freezing rain and snow fell once again. What a strange season.

Red Velvet - Dec 8th, Alaska Aurora Cam
It started early was silky smooth. So smooth, that we almost missed it. This was what we found after returning home from picking up a few things for the evenings tour. Not sure how long the amazing show would last, we called our guests and got an early start. Good thing we did as the clouds took over around midnight. Not before we'd gotten some great shots though! ;-)

Drizzling Drapes - Dec 6th, Alaska Aurora Cam
The clouds once again curtained our view of any Aurora activity and with them came more freezing rain. Hopefully we don't escape mostly unscathed.
