Comet Neowise above Mauna Kea

Comet Neowise shot from the Big Island of Hawaii. In the close foreground is Mauna Kea with (from left to right) Subaru, both Kecks, and the NASA Infrared Telescopes. In the mid ground us Haleakala on Maui and more distant is the glow of Honolulu. Above of course is the lingering twilight from the recent sunset, the stars and Comet Neowise.

This image is a single capture taken of the 61G Lava flow on the Big Island of Hawaii just days before the flow reached the Ocean for the first time in a few years.

This images was taken from Manua Kea in the summer of 2018 when "Fissure 8" erupted from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano in the middle of a subdivision. The glow beneath the sky is the lava that resulted.
